Hi all, looking for a bit of advice. I have a switched socket (on a spur) underneath a worktop in the kitchen. It supplies the dishwasher and microwave. The microwave is on the worktop, dishwasher underneath, about 300mm away from the socket. The power cord for the microwave goes down the back of the worktop through a designated gap however I want to know whether I can cut the flex to the microwave and install an in line power switch so that we don't have to keep going in to the back of the cupboard to switch on/off/. The dishwasher is ok as has an on/off switch.
The image attached gives an idea of what I am on about (not the colour scheme btw!!)
I know that we can leave it on standby and the costs for energy will probably be less than what it would cost to make any changes but its just what we would prefer.
Any other suggestions would be welcome. thanks
