How easy would it be to add a single socket for our treadmill?

I think the previous home owner has added a double socket, so I'm not sure, would it be possible to run a cable
And attach a single socket?

Before doing anything, you need to find out what is the rating of the MCB protecting that socket and what cable size it is wired in.

If it's a radial circuit, you can happily add another socket.

If it's a ring circuit, with those two sockets already being a spur from the ring then it's not allowed to add another socket if the cable size is 2.5mm. The socket on the right will need to be removed too.

However, if there is a FCU before the two sockets then it's fine and you can add another socket but you'll be limited to the fuse rating in the fcu.

Where does that cable entering the socket from the top come from?

I'm currently running a extension lead just wanted something tidy, I could run the extension lead up the wall and around to the socket.

That FCU governs the max current that the outgoing cables can deliver, so you can add another socket. I presume the fuse rating in the FCU is 13amp so the outgoing cable(s) are protected. Just out of curiosity, what fuse/MCB rating is protecting that SWA black cable? It should be marked back in your consumer unit/main fuse box.

How best to add an additional socket to the 16amp garage supply? Think of your personal safety and that of any prospective user at all times.
Depending on how close the additional socket outlet will be in relation to the existing sockets, extend from the R/H socket as seen in the photo. Run the 2.5 TW&E cable neatly and clip well to the wall. If you have any doubts at all about how to proceed, ask a qualified electrician to extend the run for you. Clear the way and the job should not take long. If you do self-install, double check as you go and also do a final check before switching on from the FCU.

It probably served something else before that something was removed and those two loose unclipped cables were draped into it.

It may actually be what we often recommend: The FCU to provide a 3A or 5A fuse for the light... except it now has a 13A fuse.
