Adding footing under Raft

I’m building a single storey extension replacing the existing lean too. Having dug down an inspection hole there is no footing in the lean too but it seems to have been built on a raft of solid concrete around 0.5m deep 1.4m x 6m.

I think I can dig under to put a footing in to 600mm width and back fill when I put the new foundation in does this sound plausible?
