Adding new lights and switch

I have been doing some work in my sisters house and she has decided that she wants to add a few lights underneath a panel on her landing. I have provided a diagram which I hope gives enough information. The wall and underneath the ledge are both hollow. She wants to remove the wooden ledge and replace it with a glass panel. She wants to have approx three standard bulbs or possibly spotlights under the glass panel. As you can see from the diagram I have marked the positions of the lights and switch position. Would this

1. Be an easy enough job for me to do and how as I have done minor electrical work such as replacing sockets, light swtches and ceiling lights.

2. Better to get a qualified electrician.

3. Run a wire with a plug on the end through the wall to the bedroom socket and plug it in when needed.

bad idea.

1) no ventilation shown for lamps , ventilation holes would also let the light out as well as heat

2) standard lamps and batten holders are about 19cm tall, so deep gap also required

3) it would come under part p
