Adding zonal heating

Further to my earlier post, i have decided to seriously consider doing away with my chimney. Though what i need to know to swing the decision is about zonal heating?

I have combi worcester in 2 storey house. I want to fit some automatic valve to shut off the upstairs during the day. Is this possible?

it is possible but much easier to fit trv`s and turn them off manually

Yes. You can use 2 port motorised valves eg. Honeywell to isolate upstairs.

How easy this is to achieve will depend on the layout of your ch pipework. If the upstairs and downstairs ch pipes are 2 seperate defined circuits, then it will be easy. If both upstairs and downstairs rads are fed from the same main flow and return pipes, then pipework alterations will be required.

You can also have a seperate room stat and programmer for upstairs.
