Hello
I'm thinking of installing an additional outside light. I'm hoping to replace a single switch which is being used for an existing outside light with a double switch. This existing switch has a permanent live wired into "common" from a ceiling rose controlled by completly separate switch indoors. The neutrals are in a connector.
For the new light, can I take live from the existing live currently wired into "common", i.e. wire the permanent live so that it feeds both "commons" for each of the two rockers in a new double switch? The neutral for the new light would just be wired into the connector.
I'm confident this would work but not sure if it's good practice.
Thanks for your help!
