Adjustable pendant light length minimum

Hi,

I couldn't really find any information on this so decided to post here.

I have a adjustable pendant light that says it has a minimum drop of 45cm, would going shorter than that cause any problems?

I can just pull more cable through so it doesn't seem like its set in stone, but wanted to check.

The regulations were written to allow for tungsten lighting, and when we buy a lamp the wattage is clearly still designed for use of tungsten bulbs. The CFL and LED produce far less heat, but nothing stopping you fitting tungsten, I still find the odd tungsten lamp, and yes there could be problems, I have for example retained the glass covers from my G9 bulb lamp, and have 10 quartz bulbs in stock, even though the cover not required with LED. Well it actually will not fit with LED.

So likely no problem with LED reducing the cooling gap, but the question is could the LED's ever be replaced with tungsten? Could some time in the future, some one decide if they use tungsten bulbs they can reduce the air temperature as getting infrared heat from bulbs, and so using tungsten bulbs saves energy? Personally even if true, I remember swapping a bulb some where every fortnight on average, and don't want to return to that, however not so long ago the diesel car was best thing since sliced bread, now returning to petrol.

I actually end up with the bulb about 5cm further away from the ceiling than the previous fitting, so I'm not sure if cooling is the issue in regards to the manufacturers minimum?
