Hi Guys,

I have an Advent 7003, about 8 yrs old, which, for no apparent reason has died. It will not power up from either mains or internal battery.
When the mains are connected the "charging" light flashes for a while and then stops.
Any ideas what to try or look for?

The socket on the laptop, that you plug the charger into, may be faulty. They are difficult to get hold of & expensive to repair, but you may be able to re-solder the centre pin if you are capable of stripping down the laptop & accessing the rear of the socket.

Try taking the battery out of the machine and powering from the charger only.

We have a certain batch of acer laptops at work that will not switch on when their batteries are totally dead, even with the charger plugged in.

Thanks guys,
I have tried to run the computer without the battery with no luck.
Looks like I will have to try to strip it down. Any sites with detailed info on stripping this model?

Think you will find what you need with a google search, sorry don't know a particular one off the top of my head.

Thanks guys, due to the age and cost I think I will buy a new laptop and bin the Advent.

Cheers
