I'm having problems with adverts on websites, normally right column ads. What will happen is the ad will appear over anything else that happens in that window. So for example, drop down boxes will drop behind the advert. On facebook, the instant chat pop ups will pop behind the advert, making it unusable. On MSN messenger, the small advert at the bottom of that was yesterday stuck on screen, on top of all my windows!

Any tips?

Use Hosts Files.

Go to the site:

http://www.mvps.org/winhelp2002/hosts.htm

Scroll down to the download folder.

If you are using VISTA then click on the link for Vista Users.

If not Vista then:
Right click on the “Download: hosts.zip” select Save Link As and save to desktop.

On the Desktop, double click the zip icon and select Extract All.

The Extraction Wizard will take you through the short process.

Double click the Read Me File and read it, then close it.

Double click the “mvps.bat” icon, then click Run.

The System32\cmd.exe window will open to inform that Hosts have been updated.
Press any key to close it.

Close all other windows.

Delete the shortcut icons on the desktop.

Job done.

You could try moving over to Firefox and use the Adblock addin. Works a treat.
