Advice needed on which cable to use for CCTV

I would pull a seperate 6 core alarm cable for power alongside the cat5 for what it is worth. Saves having unsightly joints at the back of the DVR because the alarm cable can go straight to the PSU.
wikipedia claims "Category 5e cable uses 24 AWG conductors, which can safely carry 360 mA at 50 V according to the latest TIA ruling."
and since afaict you only need on pair for your balun that would leave 6 conductors for power so you should be able to supply about an amp to your camera by grouping the remaining conductors into groups of three. I would think that would be enough for most CCTV cameras . Volt drop may be more of an issue depening on run length.
