Hi, I have ran into a problem when trying to fit a new ceiling shade, the problem is that the black metal ceiling plug has dropped down out of the hole it's in, it will not push back up, I'm unable to get upstairs floorboards up to investigate!
Anyone got any ideas a way around this?

That's a round conduit box. It's movement may have damaged cables, compromised an earth connection - who knows. You can't leave it like that, nor, even if you could, should you push it back up and assume all is well.

Then you'll have to cut the ceiling away - you need to see how the cables enter the box, and if they are damaged or might have been pulled away from a connection elsewhere, and you need to see if you have a conduit system which is providing the earth and check that it's OK.
