Hi All,

I'm planning on cleaning my carpet over the weekend by rentng a carpter shampoo cleaner machine for 48hrs.

I was planning on moving furniture to one side of the room and cleaning the cleared area and then leaving for 24hrs before moving the furniture to the other half and cleaning the other side.

Some of the things I'm unsure about are:

1. How long does it take for the carpet to dry
2. Is it okay to put furniture on carpet that is drying?
3. Are ther any types of carpet that may not be suitable for being cleaned using a carpet shampoo cleaner machine?

I've never sone this before and was wondering if anyone has any tips and tricks.

Any advice would be really helpful and give me confidence in what I'm doing.

Thanks in advance.

Had my carpets cleaned, was dry within the hour, depends on the type of machine used.
Wool carpets can shrink, follow machine instructions.

I don't know whether my carptets are made of wool. Not sure if there is a way of knowing.

Wool carpets tend to be very expensive .
Pull a small tuft and burn , wool will smell like burning hair while synthetic will shrivel and smell like plastic .

I'll give that a go.

I don't think my carpet is a very expensive by the looks of it.
