I was hoping someone could help me. I'm a little worried about my homes upstairs floor bounce, the room is 5 meters by 5 meters and when walking around you can feel vibrations in the floor and the furniture very slightly moves, not visibly much but I can hear it and loose things like mirrors on the dressing table rock slightly when people walk around the room.
House was built around 150 years ago and it has been this way as long as I can remember (Lived here just over 7 years). More recently one or two floorboards have been coming lose around the edge of the room. Ideally, I have some other projects to get on with before redoing the carpet in the room but was wondering if there was a good way to measure how much the floor is moving when walked on so I know how urgent I need to take the carpet up and take a look at the floor. The celling below has a very thin hairline crack perpendicular to the joists directly in the middle running along the room which has been there for a long time and hasn't got worse in the last 5 years. Unsure if it's just normal for an old house to have a small amount of flex or if it's worth investigating further and the best way to go about it.
