I have laid laminate boards on top of the original carpet which is on top of floorboards. The issue I have is that part of the floor is bouncing and squeaking. The question is, can I correct the problem by putting thin plywood under the affected area ?.

Hard floorcovering on top of carpet?????
The bugs and housmites love you very much for this.

Remove the carpet and its underlayment, install wooden floor underlayment and see if the floor still bounces

is it happening around a pinch point!!!!

does the flooring dip when you stand on it!!!
or is it up in a hump before you stand on it!!!

a pinch point is usualy where theres no expansion room left where not enough space was allowed in the first place or its been blocked by no nails quadrent ect
