Hi all,

Am attempting to replace a plastic bathroom light pull switch but am confused by wiring. The current switch has 3 wires - red, black and earth and the new switch only has place for 2 - red and black.

The wiring is that which was originally installed when the house was built around 15-20 year ago.

The bloke in the shop didn't think it was possible to get a switch with 3 terminals and suggested that I just tape the earth up safely. He suggested that because the housing was plastic it didn't need earthing.

Cos its electrics i'm a bit wary about replacing the switch. Looking around the net - I can't find any switches that resemble the old one.

If it's safe, I'll tape the earth up as suggested, but I do find it odd that I can't find a switch like the original.

What do people think?

George.

All the pullswitches I know have some form of earth terminal: can you post a picture of what you've got?

i've found it!

It's in the back of the housing for the switch!

thanks for the prompt - it made me look further into it.

Looks like it should fit without a problem now.

Thanks for the help!

George.
