Hi. My mum's bathroom has an Aidelle Loovent (either model 004/005/006 - not sure which) fitted. It was fitted 15-20 years ago but stopped working about five years ago.

I've finally persauded her to replace the unit but before calling out an electrician, I was hoping to have a couple of questions answered.

1. The small green light on the unit still glows, which leads me to wonder if the unit simply needs repairing rather than replacing?

2. If the unit does need replacing, does the same model still exist or is there something else that can fit in its place, as their are tiles surrounding it.

Many thanks

There's a great little company on the Internet called Google. If you type in Aidelle Loovent you get a whole heap of suppliers. Including this: http://www.airflow.co.uk/products/product.asp?ProductID=26

If you fan is 20 years old its due for retirement and definately not worth trying to fix it. Even if you find its the logic board I'll bet the bearings will be knackered.

The green light probably indicates that power is still getting to the fan so you should easily be able to do a one for one swop.
TURN THE POWER OFF FIRST!

They are so cheap it's not worth trying to repair. Usually the bearings get noisy before anything else goes wrong. The lamp just means power is being delivered to the fan connections.

I've used Aidelle Loovent but probably anything else will fit. If you're spending much money a centrifugal fan is more powerful (but bigger inside the room).

If you get an electrician in he will probably fit an isolating switch. These are often fitted outside the bathroom, above the door.

bah, too slow!
