Hi all, after some advice please...

I've just fitted one of these (from TLC) to vent a kitchen extractor fan:

As you can see, there are some 'tabs' on the side which enable the front grille to be removed. The question is, in oder to fit the vent flush to the wall, these tabs would be inaccessible, so are they used just to help fitting or should they be accessible afterwards? What's the standard procedure for these type of vents?

Any advice much appreciated.

Thanks.

The tabs are there to hold the two separately manufactured parts together, it is not intended for the front to be removed later.

Thanks flameport, I'll sink the tabs into the wall so the air brick sits flush to the wall. I might also fit a cowl. We'll see if high winds cause any noise.

Oh, Ok. I was just replicating what was already there for the old extractor, just using bigger components. If I was to replace the air brick, what should I use instead, given that there's now a larger hole in the outside wall? Thanks.
