After having problem with air conditioning and getting warm air only I got a mobile "specialist" to recharge the system. He seemed to connect a machine which recycled the existing gas. Thereafter it seemed to produce limited cool air for a short while and then warm air. The mobile "specialist" doesnt seem to have much idea about why its not working. Can anyone offer any clues please ?. It cost me £55 for whatever he did but it is not working.

The recyling he did was to remove all the old gas and recharge it with the correct amount. If it worked for a bit then stopped, it's probably because you have a leak. Can you see any leaks? If you can see the compressor, get someone to switch the A/C on and you'll see the clutch coming in or you'll hear the engine note change as it turns the compressor.

iirc kwikfit are doing this for 45 quid,or they were.

but as said you may have a leak from the condensor or any of the pipes etc,you will have to weigh up wether it is cost affective to have it repaired?
the trouble with aircon is when it breaks you nedd long arms and short pockets

Some places can inject the system with a dye which shows up under UV light whilst wearing yellow specs - it is a bit of a specialist job but can find the leak if there is one.

Spark123 is absolutely right...a 'proper' air con specialist will include a dye when the system is filled with gas. Any leaks will show up under the light from a UV torch...is almost impossible to tell otherwise. If the system is losing gas, the compressor won't cut in anyway - at least not for long. Cheers John

Thanks for your help. Thought I would let you know I had a nitrogen test done today, followed by Vacuum, then recharged. It seems the previous "expert" only put 350 grams gas back in when it needs 850grams or thereabouts. Will see how it goes. Thanks again. Jim

Can anyone tell me please where the pollen filter is housed on a V70 classic . I was told I might need to change it to improve efficiency of the air con.
Thanks, Jim

lift the bonnet then go to the n/s and lift the scuttle panel at the corner (two t25 torx screws).

Many thanks. A job for the weekend. Help much appreciated.
