I have a peugeot 306 1.4 LX 1998 and the airbag warning light comes on and flashes intermitantley then stays on permanantly when the ignition and engine is on, what does this mean and how can i get it to go off? many thanks........................ ive tried re-fixing the pre tensioner plug under the seat but this hasnt made any difference, has anybody any ideas how to reset the air bag pretensioners? (apparently they can be reset)....is it a job for a peugeot specialist? Any help much appreciated!!!

Sounds like it needs plugged into a diagnostics machine, it could easily be a loose connection.
Some small garages have diagnostic machines capable of reading airbag fault codes but I'm not sure for that age, failing that it will need a trip to a dealer.

When you say you`ve tried the connections under the seat, do you mean you`ve cut them off and replaced them with bullet type connectors or you just checked they are connected, because i`d disconnect the battery making sure i have the radio code, cut the conectors at staggered points, so you know which wire goes to which one, then put bullet connectors on them instead of the orange connnectors pug give you, this will give you a clear connection and you should have any problems, failing that, look at how far up the seat belt recepticles are sticking up, if one is lower maybe one has gone off, or a true way to find out if one has gone off, is put a finger in the tube attached to the pretensioner, if you can feel the knot, they have gone off, if you feel nothing they are good, i do remember the airbag ecu having problems, this is behind the centre consol, forward of the gear stick, but that is a last resort..........
