I'm still looking at boiler models, and think it will either be Alpha or Intergas, for an OV system.

On here there have been several posts saying that Alpha parts are expensive and difficult to get hold of. Although, I have a feeling they might be older posts. I've managed to track down a few parts from the manual, and they don't seem to cost more than other brands, although I have limited ability to check this. I have no idea about availability. Anyway, just hoping those with experience of these boilers could share what they think.

I would like it to last quite a bit longer than the warranty, which is seven years. So price of parts is still of interest to me.

And even within warranty, I would want to know that spares are easily available. I've read about people waiting well over a week for parts with some boilers which are still under warranty.

Alphas come with up to 14 years warranty, Alpha engineers will carry anything that the boiler needs, most parts are generic across the range

Thanks, I hadn't realised it could be increased like that. After checking a bit more, it looks like the standard warranty on the regular version can be increased in various ways. As far as I can see, you can get another two years by fitting a mounting jig. Do these actually make the installation easier? Could it save on installation costs? Also, do you know whether Alpha give any increased warranty for using an Approved engineer? I can't find any info on that.

Using the jig wont make the installation easier, it is what it is but yes increases the warranty, you can use any gas safe registered engineer to service it and maintain the warranty, or you can use Alpha themselves completely up to you, just make sure whoever services it fills in the service record in case you need a warranty call
