Wanting to renovate my bathroom and small toilet.

Would remove old black coloured tiles from there but wanted to have just half of the wall tiled and rest paint, is there any disadvantage from doing that.

Or just use alternative to tile, would that be cheaper. Or just paint all over, don't know what are benefit of tiles over paints, is it cosmetic thing?

Comments apprciated.

Well, if you have a shower you want that area tiled at least for obvious reasons.

If you just have a bath, then it is good to have at least a splash of tiles around it again for obvious reasons. Same with the basin.

Having a room half tiled and painted is purely cosmetic, or could be for financial reasons as tiles can be costly!

If you tile half the room and paint the other half, it is easy enough to cheaply re-paint in a different colour if you fancy a bit of a change.
