Hi, I currently have square aluminium down pipes that are cemented in the ground going into a gulley to the drain. I want to replace these with upvc downpipes. What I need advice on is : Can I just dig these out and replace with upvc downpipes and re cement in or is it best to cut aluminium pipes as close to ground as possible and join the 2 together

Thanks

Use a upvc pipe size that fits into the existing aluminium pipe.

Cut the aluminium pipes a couple of inches above ground level.

The "joint" between upvc and and aluminium does not need to be water tight if the upvc descends a couple of inches inside the aluminium pipe.

When you cut it a few inches above the ground stick the hose pipe in and see if its clear first before proceeding.
