I am not an electrician but I have in the re-wired two houses in the past, and would not attempt anything I was not 100% sure of.

Am I allowed to change a double sock in a living room or does it have to be done by part p electrician.

when you say "change" do you mean take out one double socket and replace it with another? e.g. a different colour, or the old one is cracked?

if so, then yes, you are allowed.

My wife has just asked why I need an electrician to change my socks.

I want to replace a few double sockets with these 4g converters.

Thanks.

Well, it's the right time of year for an extra pair of socks.

As the living room is not a special area, then as long as you comply with part P (which essentially means you comply with the wiring regs) then you can do it without having to notify etc...
