Just fitted a wooden folding loft ladder as i want easy access for storage and also want to upgrade the insulation.

i did not even think to consult the council over building regs
have i broken any rules?

Here are some photos of the installation and a picture of the mess i have to clean up

excellent ladders tombo,
fitted the same in my own house, i put facings round to give it a more finished look, though thats optional.

dont think you would need planning for them... :D

Thanks for the input Alastair, the ladder came with some plastic trim but its too small to cover the gap.
I plan to make some moulding out of the few floor boards i took up to cut the hole

i plastered the little gap around the frame before fitting the facings,

the plaster expanded and the blooming door wouldnt close

had to remove plaster. ;)

Framing it with the same architrave that's going round the doors would finish off so it look in keeping with the rest.
