In case anyone's interested, Planning Jungle has highlighted new rules coming into effect 6th April, presumably responding to the decision in the Hilton case.
If anyone can fathom them out (which I can't) please feel free to comment!

I'm not a member at Planning Jungle, but if it's this:

http://www.legislation.gov.uk/uksi/2017/391/made

then, presumably responding to Hilton, it is now liberally plastered with this phrase:

"total enlargement (being the enlarged part together with any existing enlargement of the original dwellinghouse to which it will be joined)"

Cheers
Richard
Yeah, reading through it again, seems like Hilton has been well-and-truly addressed.:(
