Amtico - Should it look like this?

Hi, we're in the process of getting our kitchen redone, and have just had an Amtico floor fitted (honed limestone tiles with silver stripping). At first glance it looks fine, but the closer I look the more I notice.

My major concerns are:

1) gaps between the pieces of silver stripping (up to 2mm)
2) rows of tiles slightly out of alignment
3) slightly crooked tiles with a gap at one end that you can get a finger nail down.

None of these might sound like major things, but for the cost of the job I would expect it to be perfect. :(

We'll be in touch with the flooring company tomorrow, but it would be good to know whether I should expect it to look like this.

Thanks,

Rutley

...pictures would help!!!!!!!

OK - based on your post

No - there should be no gaps, and all tiles should be lined up perfectly

your post suggests that you employed a bona-fide company to handle this so Yes complain!!!!!!!!

Thanks for the reply - photos are here now!

You're right, we are using a proper company but I can't help thinking it should be right first time. They have come round today and agreed to put the job right. Unfortunately we have to wait for more stock to come in, so they will be getting on with our bathroom in the meantime (Fingers are very firmly crossed!).

Do you know if it is possible to lift just part of the floor to put things right?

Hopefully we will get this resolved as the room looks good from a distance...

I would not be happy with that either!

Yes you can lift single tiles, but in your case they may have to lift the lot
to enable them to close the gaps.

personally I avoid feature strips (in my own house I mean)

The good thing is that they have agreed to put it right.

After all everyone has a bad day occaisionally
