Hi All
Anyone experienced the changing/repair of Anglian Door Flag Hinges?
My 20yr+ conservatory door upper hinge snapped when I opened the door and fortunately I managed to catch and shut it again before the bottom hinge went. I hate to think what could have happened if one of my grandchildren had opened the door.
Its a double door arrangement with 2 hinges per door and found online the subject repair kit.
Original hinges are not available apparently as I couldn't find anything online as Anglian website only offered door accessories so this kit offers a fix.
Excellent YouTube instructions, but like life itself, nothing goes as smoothly as the video.
Tamper proof screws not mentioned and after failing miserably with HSS drill bits, I ended up grinding off the hinge plate from the door.
Fortunately the hinge itself was secured with standard screws, but the elongated pins came away from the hinge and remained stuck in the outer frame.
At this stage and before I could fit the new hinge, the clouds rolled in and gave me the excuse to wrap things up for the day.
The door is currently fitted and locked (key stowed away from grandchildren) with only the old bottom hinge still in place.
Hopefully things will go a little more smoothly tomorrow as I know now what to expect.
Cheers
Doug
