Annex heating choices

Well you started the whole quoting efficiency figures thing...I still maintain that a modulating gas boiler is more efficient and more versatile in a real-world situation than a non-modulating oil one.

@whiskeyfrank Go for the LPG boiler - the modulation means that you get a high flow rate for water but a low output to match the low demand heating system. The oil will be a compromise - if you nozzle it down to 12kW as suggested, it'll be 12kW for hot water too and that isn't going to give you a very good flow rate once the small hot water store is depleted

I wouldn't say the efficirncy figures are rubbish, just not represetitive of real world useage. With methane a test gas is used at higher pressure which gives better results than an installed appliance, no doubt similsr arrangements exist for oil. ErP was also designed to encourage cooler running of condending appliances with controls thst can modulate the appliance rather than simply switch it on/off. There's a reason for that.
