Evening all,

We've invested in a hive system whilst it was on offer, we currently have a separate hot water cylinder and so have the dual channel version. However due to the lockdown we couldn't get installation included.

The current thermostat setup is an Up2 with a dial thermostat mounted 6 inches away.

I've taken the up2 off to check what it's like behind before I do anything and have a few questions....

1. The cable coming in at the bottom right is from the thermostat, am I OK to completely remove this so the grey wire on the left of the choc-block goes to terminal 4?

2. There is no wire currently connected to terminal 2, which is the hot water off terminal. Do I need to connect something to this for the hive to work properly?

Thanks in advance.

1. Yes do that.
2. You don't need a wire in 2 (heating off, not hot water) for 99% of installs.

1 and 2 may not be used with some systems, in fact I can't think of any system that does use 2? The C Plan, W Plan and Y Plan use 1 DHW off, but can't think of any that use CH off?

Thank you all, hive arrived last night, took 10 minutes to install this afternoon and is working well.

Cheers

I am trying to replace my BDR 91 with a hive dual controller. At the moment the BDR 91 controls the heating and a separate Honeywell ST9100C controller for water heating. I have attached a photos showing the existing wiring for the BDR 91 and ST9100C. Could someone please tell me how to wire these into the hive dual.

Many thanks

Dave,

You’d be better starting your own thread, rather than tailing another one, as it gets confusing for people if they read through, but don’t read the date from original poster. Also that ST9100c looks like it has hot water off, unless I’m reading it wrong?

I think its hot water on. I will try a new post. Thanks for the advice

The Hive receiver will need the N & L from one of the existing controllers connecting to it, it doesn't matter which pair you use. The N & L from the other should be disconnected and made safe.

The wire in BDR Terminal (B) goes to Hive (4) Heating on

The wire in ST (4) terminal goes to Hive (3) Hot Water on

Thank you Stem, much obliged. Will wire up tomorrow morning and let you know how it goes

Hello Stem

Delayed the job until after the snow. Connected up the Hive as per your message. Thermostat seems to work, paired with the controller, the controller seems to ask for heat at the correct time but the boiler doesn't fire. Any ideas?
