Gentlemen. This post is getting a bit out of hand.

Op, £25 and hour isn't an unreasonable amount to pay any professional (I used to do some private tuition for students sitting GCSE maths and £25-£30 was the going rate a few years ago)- however, it does seem somewhat irksome for you to have paid twice and the problem not fixed.

As to my "colleagues" on here, yes it is a bit irritating that multiple posts have been opened by the op. But give the guy a break - he's been ripped off twice and is clearly somewhat disillusioned anyway.

Rather than getting these 25ph engineers out, why not get your boiler covered by the likes of domestic and general etc. That way the engineers have to get it fixed or they will lose the contract.

The cost of actually getting trained, qualified & registered as a gas fitter last time I heard was over £1200.

Depending on what part of the UK you are from £30 - £50 would be pretty standard considering the cost of the qualification process, yearly assessments & the actual fact its a specialist trade due to the risks & dangers involved when working with gas.

I don't have a gas qualification myself however I'm just letting you know that £50 an hour isn't 'pathetic'. Its 2009 not 1999, things aren't fixed for 'a score' & a cup of tea anymore
