Hey folks,

I had a system to combi boiler change and wanted to turn the old cupboard containing the water tank into much needed storage. The gas folks doing the work did not mention anything so I think it's just plasterboard but as its a 1930 house and an airing cupboard, could you kind folks please cast your eye over these pictures and tell me if you think I should get it tested?

Cheers

Larry

Hey Woody, I deleted and attached some new photos to my original post, tried with a bit more light!

The top surface is skim plaster, and that implies that the board beneath is plasterboard.

Look into the crack in the first photo with a torch. If there are silky shiny fibres across the crack then this may be asbestos.

There are services that will test a sample, google will find loads. It doesn't cost much, and avoids a load of worry or needless precautions.

You often can, if they're on a broken edge. They dangle out. Not if within a cast piece though.

But testing is essential.
