Another record milestone for Labour. 50,000…

Nope. That's never going to happen and could be inhumane in certain scenarios. With Operation Stop 'Em the goal of the patrols is to ensure 100% of those trying to enter illegally from France are safely picked up, accommodated and processed.

Thanks. I had assumed we actually did pick them all up. You seem to be saying that there are people landing that we don't know about. I have not followed that particular aspect.

The only other question I have is, would they be detained in the accommodations or be free to come and go.

Under the conditions of Operation Stop 'Em, they would be detained. However, each camp would have leisure and recreation facilities, sized accordingly.

I think we all know what would happen if they were free to come and go.

We either get tougher on this or we don't. If we don't, then don't expect anything to change anytime soon if ever.

Something else we need to tighten up on is the acceptance criteria.
Many people have been saying for a long time now, that the real issue is the speed (or lack of) of processing and action.

The timescales and backlog involved stretch back a long way.

It is the only way forward. Just don't expect a big historic issue to be sorted overnight.

One of the biggest problems I have read is what to do with those who fail the asylum test but can't be returned to their home country. This happens a lot I believe. Mainly because of a dispute over which is their home country. Possibly also because the home country simply won't agree to returns.

And theirin lies the problem.

Co-operation with other countries rather than pulling up the drawbridge is the way forward.

Doesn't matter how many "no entry" signs are installed . Push backs won't work for many many reasons, the biggest being the potential to cause death or injury.

What happens to those failed asylum seekers we can't return. Are they left to fend for themselves in the black economy.

That's just silly. Some are genuine refugees. But I don't know the proportion.
Please explain to me how is it possible for a genuine refugee to reach the UK without crossing any safe country.
If I was running away from war, prosecution or anything else, I would contact the authorities of the first safe country I arrived at.
Not crossing dozens of safe countries to reach the UK.
They come here to milk the system.
The only genuine refugees here are those who manage to arrive by plane from their country: very, very few.

You are using circular reasoning.

It is perfectly possible to be a genuine refugee and decide not to claim asylum in the first safe country. Just because you wouldn't do that, doesn't stop it being true. Not many do it. There are millions and millions of genuine refugees and only a tiny proportion try to come here.

it is funny how Mottie never posted anything after there were 45,755 people arriving by small boat in 2022 under the Conservative Party.

August 2022 8631 arrived in small boats under a Conservative govt.

So far August 2025 838 arrived
