Hi everyone I've got a floor that I want to sort out....
Here it is:
So.. what's going on here is:
1) An oak floor we had fitted about 2 years ago is in one room. It's solid wood, easy-clip, and creaks ALL THE TIME! Mostly because the sub-floor (concrete) is not level enough, so it's not very forgiving. I put down some SLC to try and sort the sub floor myself, but it's still not quite perfect enough to stop it from creaking.
2) On the other side is the exposed pine floorboards.
3) In the middle is a piece of oak that was supposed to cover a concrete gap (but fails), and was supposed to be sloped down to the pine boards. But the 2 floors are still about 2-3 cm apart in height.
We're looking to get rid of the creaky floor, and put down something that flows through both rooms, and is ideally a bit more forgiving about the creaks. I'm hoping I can do this myself - has anyone got any advice or tips about what might work? We're looking to avoid laminate, so I was thinking maybe engineered wood, with double thickness underlay in the pine-board room to level the height....
Any general advice would be welcome, looking to avoid spending a fortune!!
