Hello

I am new to this site but was hoping somebody could help with ideas as I am not particularly creative. I moved into a new house at the end of last year and the garden is not in a good state (pic below). I do not have a big budget (£1-2k) but really want to make it look (at least a bit!) more appealing - is there anything you could suggest/ anybody done similar low budget improvements?

Thank you :)

Wow, love the stone work, it just needs washing off with a standard jet wash.

jet wash the waney edge cladded fences, and cut back the hedges and tree branches and tidy it all up, or visa versa.

1: apply one or two coats of Ronseal one coat fence colour and protector of your choice. Your fences are looking tired, but they're still save able.

2: Jet wash the ground stones, and treat with Thompsons onecoat sealer.
This will bring out their true colour, and protect them.

3: see if you can find a competent local joiner who can build you a small gazeebo/Wooden Corner Arbour (£150-£200)

At the back of the table area, it looks like you have some soil area, ideal for some perennials maybe? Small roses bushes?

I'd recommend a decking area, but the stonework is too good to hide! :)

I agree it needs some more plants. Cleaning the paving and low walls is a start and see how they come up.

I would avoid thomposons sealer like the plague it gives a horrible wet look and have seen too many horror stories of it going wrong, white marks and bubbling caused by moisture, it also scratches and leaves scratch marks which look awful.

It may be a bit radical but i would create a couple of large flower beds within the paving. It is a very large patio so loosing some is no big issue.

i.e lift some slabs and create flower beds at paving level.

Something like this. but maybe have one a little bigger and two others that sort of size.
