Does any local of this county know when they are finally demolishing the ironbridge power station? What an eyesore! I believe some locals have campaigned to have it preserved .. nowt queer as folk.
I suspect it will be when the owners of the site see some benefit in spending money on clearance.
Probably dependent on a prospective buyer wanting to clean up and redevelop the site. So maybe when the economy picks up and somebody can see a profitable use for it. Large scale plans often take a couple of years before work begins.
"Before the work begins, Shropshire Council has said Uniper must provide a scheme to keep people up-to-date with the project, a noise monitoring scheme, dust and asbestos managing plans, a water management plan to prevent contamination of local waterways and a scheme to secure appropriate drainage of the restored site. "
That is probably or most likely the case, but if they can't or don't sell it within a reasonable time should owners of derelict sites be forced to return the land to its previous state?
I guess Eddie thinks so.
That also applies to railway lines which are just left as a scar on the landscape for ever. Sometimes feeble attempts are made to disguise this by calling it a country walk or cycle route.
hmmm... maybe but I don't think it's as simple as that. I costs maintenance money all the time it remains. viz it sort of has to be demolished... I have no connection with the area BTW.. I have visited and it's very quaint if somewhat isolated and run down.
