client has a jacuzzi bath and it seems like the pump unit has failed.

when switched on it makes a loud buzzing as if the motor has stalled. casing gets warm.

can anyone tell me why there is a solenoid valve on the inlet pipe where it is connected to the bathtub? it is the white plastic box in the first pic - this is clicking open when the start button is pressed.

and what is the small plastic box stuck to the side of the bath with the green LED on it? a water level sensor? again, first pic above pipe above solenoid box.

assuming that the pump is not something that can be repaired so where is the best place to get a new one?

There may well be a capacitor inside the top of the pump. If gone this will prevent the motor from starting. Have you checked that the pump can ve turned by hand and is not jammed ?
