Hi All,

Looking for some trade recommendations of a good 1/2 router for kitchen worktops and general machining. Thinking Festool is a little out of my price range.....more makita/bosch/Dewalt

Thanks in advance......

well the festool is top of the range, but you do pay for the quality.
ive had my 1/4 1 for nearly 20 years and its still going and has seen a lot of action.
i also have a 1/2 hitachi which is a bit of a beast.

think if i was looking to buy i would be looking at the bosch, but then again i tend to be a bosch tart anyway

I was looking at the makita rp2301...again festool in an ideal world but would have to be a pro kitchen fitter to warrant that kind of expenditure.

looks a nice bit of kit,but as im not looking im not up to speed on what ticks the correct boxes.

if you rate tools from 1 to 10 they will all be around the 7/8 mark
i have the older version had it for around 20 years and has never let me down
i have a smaller dewalt twin base router which is brilliant but 1/4" i have never used a large dewalt so cant give a direct comparason as such

And at half the price of the makita / bosch / Dewalt........its definitely a contender

i could be wrong but thought the dewalt and mac where low to mid £220--250??

I also wouldn't mind the router being compatible with my festool guide rail ts55.

then you need to compliment it with the correct router, and in this case only a festool will suffice

@ 600 - 800 depending on unit.......it would have to cook my dinner for that too!!
