Hi there, as above really, which petrol retailer was it that you could get the fake cut glass ....er...glasses with tokens?

Trying to complete my old set.

Chears all

wasn't it Esso?

I think I still have some. they seem to be made of tempered glass, when I break one it seems to fly into fragments.

Was it shell that did the white crockery with the red and green "mosaic" pattern on? I think almost every house in the UK has owned at least one cup, plate or jar from the collection.

There's a set of cups in a few of our depots and the tea/coffee/sugar are kept in a set of the jars at one of them

How many cars did you used to see with self adhesive bullet holes stuck to the doors and wings.

It was all crap anyway!

My Dad once collected enough points (about 3 million) from Esso to buy a clock radio

you would have only been a baby then, how do you remember! (im being serious now!)

BTW, I'm 21. And my dad had that clock radio until 2 years ago when i bought him a new one for xmas  It was a constant reminder of how cheap my parents are

Hello All,

I remember my dear old grandfather spending months and months collecting football coins from Esso. ( @70's  ).
It lasted 3-4 days in the capable hands of me and my brother, coins missing and pages ripped etc.

Ed.

ps I wouldn't trust glasses from a garage personally, I would pop down spec savers and get a 'proper' pair.

only things worth collecting from petrol stations were the Green Shield stamps..and the little placcy esso men

yeah Esso, the tokens were called Tiger Tokens and if I remember correctly had a 'redemtion value' of 0.0001p

Any of you remembered the football world cup coins in the early 70's wasn't it?
