Was it shell that did the white crockery with the red and green "mosaic" pattern on? I think almost every house in the UK has owned at least one cup, plate or jar from the collection.
There's a set of cups in a few of our depots and the tea/coffee/sugar are kept in a set of the jars at one of them

I remember my dear old grandfather spending months and months collecting football coins from Esso. ( @70's
).
It lasted 3-4 days in the capable hands of me and my brother, coins missing and pages ripped etc.

ps I wouldn't trust glasses from a garage personally, I would pop down spec savers and get a 'proper' pair.

yeah Esso, the tokens were called Tiger Tokens and if I remember correctly had a 'redemtion value' of 0.0001p
