I haven't tried it myself, but I know there is quite a community building these type of machines using Raspberry Pi's

I am planning to build one when I move into my new place. Mine will be a full size standing one.
I found a UK site that builds them but I can't remember the address any more. I think it was bitcade but they seem to have less DIY kits now - they are more focused on pre-built that are really expensive.
