as woody suggested when you come to do the other side, consider sitting your rafters over the top of your "ridge beam". This will as he explained allow you to tile up to the top of the ridge. also will reduce some of the lateral force on the beam
I can sort of see that. More force down than pushing into the beam. Only issue is I’m half way through now. Kind of past the point of no return.
