Maybe he's still thinking in long scale
Just thought of a way of reducing our debts. Revert back to the billion being 10^12 instead of 10^9. Then we'd only be a bit over a billion in debt and all will be well

You are a maths teacher. We use 87 million barrels per day. How many decades will that keep us going for then? It won't be cheap either as it's difficult terrain.
'We' as in the world is that?...

The UK only uses about 1.6million barrels a day...

Could keep us in supplies for quite a time...or a greater income given the inevitable price rise - which makes it more economical to raise ...

60 billion barrels would last the UK a hundred years at that rate, which is 10 decades

You'd better hope there's nowhere near that amount under there - or Falklands conflict 2 will be on the cards.

And whose side will Uncle Sam be on this time?...

mmm wonder if the argies will buy it?

O ly way they can steam in is in support of the S. Americans who they detest with a passion.

Which suggest they know there isn't really a lot. It's the oldest trick in the book - advertise the new gold rush and fools will rush in with their money. South Sea Bubble comes to mind.

Possibly. Could also suggest that 60 billion barrels is small fry in comparison to what the US reckons it has in reserve.

Which is what we should have done with Nth Sea Oil.

I hope that if there is oil in the Falklands and we do get a claim on it that we don't just sell it on the open market for the Yanks to squander. We need to make the stuff last for our children's, children's, children.

Our children wont need oil & petrol, if you remember the post about that Italian geezer doing cold fusion a few months ago, he should have it sorted by tyhe time our next generation need fuel.

Don't worry joseph, they'll have a super duper some other way of doing things by then. Something that we'd think was magic if we could see it now. And if they don't, well, at least you won't have to listen to them moaning for long.
