Ive just bought an end of roll polyurethane carpet, only need it to last 2 years ish so wasent looking to spend much. Worked out about 7.50 a sq metre.

Anyway the place i bought it said he doesent know if the fitters will charge more if i source my own underlay, i want to get some cloud 9 stuff since ive scrimped on the carpet but the store only sells what appears to be cheap stuff.

Another carpet place said the same about the carpet fitter might charge more, is this just a lie or is it possibly true?

Also if you supply gripper rods do they charge more to fit them? Most of mine are in tact but a couple need replacing as they have come off the floor.

This is all true, fitters will often charge a little extra if they are'nt making any margin in supplying materials such as underlay and gripper. For the pennies they cost, I'd let the fitter supply gripper, if it's a small room, remember you'll be buying underlay by the roll, and not what you actually need for the room.
