Hi

I'd be very grateful for any advice. My Ariston microGenus boiler is at least 20 years old. Every few years I've had to repressurize it. I've lost the note I had about how to do that. The boiler has two blue taps underneath. The rhs one turns clockwise. The lhs one is so stiff I can't move it at all. Three years ago workmen needed to refurbish my flat and this is the first time I've needed to repressurize the boiler since. I'm wondering whether they wrenched it stiff.

Please advise:

does the lhs blue tap go clockwise or anti?

and how can I loosen it once I know which way to turn it?

Very many thanks

Nick

Hi, Terry

Many thanks for your help. I've attached some photos. Because the lhs tap has a small gap on its lhs my guess is it turns anti-clockwise but it'd be really good to get confirmation b4 I start applying force.

Also, would you know of an effective way to loosen the tap?

Many thanks again

Nick

The valves often seize...they should be excercised every 6 months say.
See if they'll shift with pump pliers but if the expansion vessel hasn't been checked for a year I'd be checking that first for air pressure.

you turn both anti-clockwise , until the pressure is correct and then both clockwise to close, dont be surprised if they snap off they are a terrible design
