My wife and I have just recently bought a new house, and the downstairs hall and stairway have Artex ceiling. What kind of work is required to smooth this down and have it normal and flat again?

Is it the kind of job thats easy for a pro?

Get a plasterer to re skim the ceilings .

Is that an easy enough job for a plasterer? Also what would you expect to pay for that kind of job. The hallway is about 3.7 x 1.6 and the stairway is about 3 metres

Without seing it it's difficult to judge how long it would take but don't pay any more than £180 a day, tops; any more & your being ripped off!

ive just had the joy of platering an artexed sun room no ceiling.and even after good a sanding and two coats of multi you could still see the pattern through the plaster.i advise over board then skim
