hi

i'm planning on having my ceilings artexed.

i'm just wondering how smooth does the celing have to be for artexing as when i removed the paper that was currently on the celings a few patches of the topcoat/skimming/finishing came off as well.

will artex fill in these ok???? how thick do they usually apply artex?

thanks

A word of advice - DO NOT ARTEX YOUR CEILING!

half the posts on this site are about removing the blooming stuff. Best to plaster them smooth instead, it will only cost a little more and you will thank yourself in the long run.

it depends on what pattern you want, you can do the salford twirl :)pattern with plaster on any ceiling, but if you want a fan pattern it has to be pretty smooth, like kozzy said get it skimmed then youve got the choice wether to paint or paper . if you pattern it youve not got much choice but to paint and it will cost twice as much to have flattened in the future.
