To you experienced builders does this look like asbestos sheet to you?

Unearthed after moving some fibreglass insulation out of the way.

Wondering why it would have been used in this way if it is asbestos.

Looks like old plasterboard to me. The image is a bit dodgy though.

Put some of that board in water. Will go to mush if plasterboard Vs asbestos that won't.

Also plasterboard is dusty and soft

I'd be more worried about having moved the old fibreglass insulation!

The fibreglass isn’t particularly old, at least - the top layer isn’t which is the one I’ve moved out the way. The top layer was done in 2011 by my mother!

Must admit, fibreglass doesn’t scare me like asbestos does. Got a mask and disposable suit coming tomorrow so I can get this suspect material out and send some off for sampling. If it’s not asbestos then no loss other than £20.

Even if it was asbestos (which it does not look to be) the fibres are not floating about or would be in such quantities like you will get from fibreglass that is just lying there, let alone lifted. So you should be as concerned with fibreglass.

If that material has what looks like grey paper on the sides and a different colour core, it's not asbestos material.
