Asbestos removal

Hi everyone.

In the process of renovating our small terraced house.

Had an asbestos survey and there's asbestos in the timberboard under the sink in the cupboard in the kitchen.

We've been quoted £1,400 to have the cupboard removed. Does that sound right? We will be renovating the kitchen anyway, so happy to see the cupboard go.

Do I have many options to have it done cheaper? I was wondering if the council / environmental health would help out at all?

My local council accepts at local tip as long as it's double bagged.Easy diy , wear face mask and avoid break up if possible, wetting it also help keep dust down.
