Asylum hotels

The majority of genuine asylum seekers, will be out of risk, once they arrive at their first country. Only a tiny few, will have reason to tramp across several borders, and risk a channel crossing. Which means, that the vast majority of those, who arrive on the small boats, are economic migrants. Economic migrants, attracted by the many tales of how well looked after they can expect to be, once here - hotels, good food, pocket money, clothes, priority health care, a free phone, and freedom to come and go as they please.

Only a few do tramp across several borders and risk a channel crossing.

The vast majority that come here are genuine…..just because your bias wants you to believe otherwise, does not make it true.

You are repeating tired tropes,

Only a tiny few, will have reason to tramp across several borders, and risk a channel crossing. Which means, that the vast majority of those, who arrive on the small boats, are economic migrants.

Logical fallacy.

You are just blind and have led a very sheltered life.
Yes you are blind to facts.

There are 4 million Syrians in Turkey, so vast majority stay in the region.

Of all the migrants that get into the EU, only 7% come to U.K.

Laugh all you want. I know what these people are like and if you had seen what I have. You would probably feel the same. I do not care for them in the same way that you seem to.

Aren't these the nice ones who are escaping from the nasty ones?

Are they?

I would have thought that is likely. The ones coming here are probably the ones escaping from the vicious regime. If they liked that horrible regime, surely they would have stayed. A couple of nights ago we watched Charlie Wilson's War (again) which is a biopic about how the West armed the Afghans to defeat the Soviets and then abandoned them to the Taliban. It is a comedy drama, but that is often the best way to make a point.

and some of them will be the ones that I fought too.
Oh so now you’ve moved the goalposts.

First you claimed they were all the same savages that you fought, now you claim it’s a minute percentage, maybe possibly.

It makes me laugh when the same people who constantly condemn countries like Afghanistan and Iran for their appalling repression, also claim that people fleeing those countries cannot possibly be escaping from persecution. I am fully on board with us deporting people who don't like Albanian chicken nuggets. But surely we can find a sensible half way house.
