Asylum hotels

Or, they are just following orders...

This is getting quite dangerous.

It beggars belief that the Tories are also encouraging this when they are the ones who started using hotels in the first place.

it’s just to create more of an issue.

Black rock to the reduce…..

Well saying that, they own part of serco, the trucks used for boats, etc etc.

Also funny how the Tories, and Kemi Badenoch in particular, are taking the stance of ending hotel use, when it was their idea in the first place.

This week ...
August 27, 2025 - Conservatives force the closure of two asylum hotels - "That’s why Kemi Badenoch has called on Conservative Councillors to push for more hotel closures if viable." - she also said we should put them in internment camps...

But it was the conservatives who created the plan to move people to hotels in 2020, because the immigration centres were full. They could have built the camps instead, but felt it was better to throw tax payers money into the private sector rather the build a better society.

At the end of the day, they have to go somewhere, and until we build bigger immigration centres, "hotels" are the best option. And as we all now hopefully know, these are not "hotels" as we know them, but little more than open prisons with appalling cramped conditions and meagre food, under constant survelliance and sometimes on strict schedules.

Hotel use has dropped 50% and will be stopped by 2029. The PM is on it.
Yes its being stopped by moving them out of hotels in into private rented accommodation offering LLs 5 years guaranteed rent, with no agents fees no maintenance cost so the LL that has had enough of the attacks on them in recent years WAS going to sell up - release the home to first time buyers - but no not now - they will take the 5 years please. Which will be asylum seekers directly affecting young buyers - and the stupid government think they will get the young generation votes - they have lost the older one and lost the young one.

That isn't the longer term plan, but if people want the hotels closed then they have to somewhere until government owned accommodation is ready.

Migrants won't disappear overnight.

What is the long term plan. I haven't heard government owned accommodation being mentioned.

I bet labour are gonna screw the private landlords with NI etc....unless they let them have the houses for migrants.
They have already started to offer it to landlords, lager ones at the min.

"Ministers say hotels will be phased out by cutting small boat crossings and building new government-owned accommodation for asylum seekers."
