Hi all,

My pre-fab is being put up in a couple of weeks time so im keen to get the bits and pieces together for a gate.

The garage is on the right side of the house, with a walkway thats probably 900ish wide inbetween the house and the garage.

I can attach the gate to the wall of the house and hinge it that end no bother, just not sure what to do at the garage end, it'll need something for the gate to lock into, and can be made secure.

So given that i dont want to drill into the new garage for fear of voiding the warranty, does anyone have any ideas as to how i can make the gate 'safe'?

Either the new post has to be set in concrete immediately alongside the new garage, or it has to be fixed to the garage itself......another possibility is a Metpost socket.
Prefab garages - the concrete panel ones - usually can't be plugged well, and need bolts passing right through.
You could provide extra support by using a horizontal header, connecting the posts at the top if you need to.

In hindsight when i cast the base for the garage i could have set in a post ready for it, but never thought!

Is there any kind of post fixing that bolts to the floor?

Im loathed to drill the garage, from what i gather im gonna have my work cut out keeping it dry as it is!
